Join me as we uncover San Diego's best-kept secrets that even some locals might not know about!

Discover the Unseen Side of San Diego

Spruce Street Suspension Bridge

I moved to Bankers Hill to be closest to my office and found this historic pedestrian suspension bridge tucked away in Bankers Hill. It offers a unique perspective of the city and sways gently as you walk across, providing a thrilling yet serene experience high above the ground. It really is fun to explore. Have you seen it?

Harper's Topiary Garden

Located in Mission Hills, this whimsical garden is a labor of love by a local couple. With over 50 unique topiary sculptures, it’s a quirky and delightful spot for a peaceful afternoon stroll. And guess what? I have not been there yet. Have you? This one is on my list to explore soon.

Sunset Cliffs Natural Park

While Sunset Cliffs is famous for its breathtaking ocean views, the Natural Park area offers secluded trails and hidden coves that provide a more intimate experience with nature. It’s an ideal location to read a book, take in the views, or just listen to the waves. What way do you enjoy the ocean most? To me, I look at it and listen to it. I sort of soak it in with all my senses.

Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve

Nestled between Rancho Peñasquitos and Mira Mesa, this hidden gem offers a tranquil escape with picturesque waterfalls, diverse wildlife, and scenic hiking trails. Perfect for nature lovers looking to explore beyond the usual spots. We parked and walked for about 40 minutes. We had a picnic along the way and, once we got to the waterfall, we were ready to take a dive into the cool water. I highly recommend this spot.

Chicano Park

Situated in Barrio Logan, Chicano Park boasts the largest collection of outdoor murals in the United States. These vibrant artworks celebrate the rich cultural heritage and history of the Chicano community in San Diego. It really makes you feel the cultures all around. San Diego is so diverse, and exploring the different sites is fun. Don't forget to get some ethnic food. You can ask yourself what you like best and simply google that food near me. Luckily, San Diego really has every kind of food available that you could want.

San Diego Real Estate in 2024

As we venture into 2024, the San Diego real estate market continues to show resilience and growth. Here are some key highlights:

  • Median Home Prices: The median home price in San Diego has seen a steady increase, reaching approximately $880,000, reflecting a year-over-year growth of 8%. This rise is driven by high demand and limited inventory, making it a competitive market for buyers.

  • Inventory Levels: Inventory remains tight, with a slight decrease compared to last year. The limited supply of homes for sale is contributing to the upward pressure on prices.

  • Mortgage Rates: Mortgage rates have stabilized around 4.5%, which is slightly higher than the historically low rates we saw in previous years but still favorable for buyers.

  • New Developments: Several new residential developments are underway, particularly in the downtown and North Park areas, offering modern amenities and attracting young professionals and families alike.

  • Rental Market: The rental market in San Diego remains robust, with an average rental price of $2,500 for a two-bedroom apartment. This stability is due to continued demand from both local residents and newcomers to the city.
