How Moving To San Diego As A Senior Completely Transformed My Past Client’s Life

If you could pick one time in your life to make a big change, when would it be? A lot of people might choose their twenties or thirties—a time when they're young and still have plenty of time ahead of them. But what if you're already past your prime? That's the question. Many of you might be curious, and most of you might probably feel anxious.

Read on to learn how my client lived in her home for 30+ years and then moved to a downtown condo. And let me tell you, the transformation their lives underwent was absolutely incredible!

Moving into the later stages of life can be challenging, but it does not have to be.

My client had been living in her home for over 30 years when she decided to finally make the move to a downtown condo in San Diego. The decision was a tough one, but she knew that it was time for a change. She was getting older and found it increasingly difficult to take care of her home and yard by herself. Plus, she wanted to be closer to her family who all lived in San Diego.

The move ended up being one of the best decisions she ever made. She loves her new condo and has never looked back. The smaller space is much easier for her to take care of and she's enjoying being closer to her family and friends. Plus, she's discovered a whole new side of San Diego that she never knew existed.

She said, "Living in the suburbs of La Mesa was perfect for a family with two children and a dog. By the time 2021 rolled around, I'd been there for over 31 years. "

“So basically, I lived in this big four-bedroom, three-bath house with a swimming pool and a yard by myself. It just didn't make sense to keep up the maintenance on a house like that. I would go into the backyard and pour money into the pool, just like I would go into the front yard and pour money into the yard.“

Having such a strong interest and curiosity about living downtown was also a reason why she considered moving from the suburbs to downtown San Diego.

She also said that she was initially scared about moving because it was unfamiliar territory, but once she started learning and discovering more about downtown San Diego, she started to love living there.

She said, "Whereas when you're in a brand new place, it's like you've got this blank slate. And that was exciting too, and a little bit scary because I was literally starting with nothing. And I made the whole thing up as I went along, which was really exhilarating for me because, for the first time, everything in this place was completely me.”

If you're considering a move to San Diego, or even just downsizing to a more manageable space, don't be scared. It can be a daunting task, but it's also an exciting new chapter in your life. And who knows, you might just end up loving it as much as my client does.
