Join the Ranks of Successful Real Estate Agents

Serving Seniors

Get excited about joining the ranks of successful real estate agents/teams with specialty and niche in the senior industry!

I was a YES for this. This is how I did it:

In 2017 I noticed how much competition I really had in our market. At the time we had about 18K licensees in San Diego.  I wanted to set myself apart and created service niches in areas I enjoy serving the most.

One of those niches is working with Seniors and Active Adults.

Partnering with Aging Well Organization to Revolutionize

Senior Real Estate Needs

Here are the steps:

  1. Get educated about everything that your clients are facing. How can you solve their problems?

  2. Get a certification if available such as the SRES cert from the National Association of Realtors.

  3. Start networking with local professionals that have the best reputation for their field and services working with seniors.

  4. Join a group of professionals to hold workshops for family members and how to prepare when parents get older.

  5. Seek strategic referral partners for all services needed when we help active adults solve their problems getting older.

  6. Start putting it out on all your multi-channel marketing that you feel passionate about serving the specific needs of active adults.

It takes time to build this niche. See it as a new business and lead pillar. I would recommend giving it 5 years to be really known for it.  I also became an Aging Well Partner.

Becoming a Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) is an excellent way to provide valuable services to the senior population and establish yourself as an expert in the real estate industry. With the SRES designation, you'll have the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the unique challenges of working with seniors and provide them with the specialized services they need.

Here are some ways you can work as an SRES and make a difference in the lives of seniors.

  • List and sell properties for seniors. As an SRES, you'll understand the unique challenges and needs of seniors when it comes to real estate. This will equip you to help seniors sell their homes at the right price, often with a focus on downsizing or moving into 55+ communities.

  • Help seniors find new homes. Whether they're downsizing or moving to be closer to family, seniors need to find homes that fit their new lifestyles. As an SRES, you can help seniors find homes that suit their needs and budgets.

  • Connect seniors with necessary resources. Seniors may need additional support when selling or buying a home, such as legal or financial advice. As an SRES, you'll have a network of professionals who can assist your clients.

  • Build relationships with senior living communities. Seniors often move to assisted living facilities or other housing options that cater specifically to their needs. By building relationships with these communities, you can help seniors navigate the options and make informed decisions.

  • Educate seniors about real estate. Many seniors have questions and concerns about estate that they need answered before making a move. As an SRES, you can provide seniors with the information they need to make informed decisions about their real estate future.
